Welcome to this overview of OMA Course. The content in this course will change how you think about the capabilities of people living with dementia, and how to design creative arts programming for people living with dementia. You will also learn how to effectively connect with people living with dementia.

This course is divided into three lessons:

  1. Lesson 1: Introduction to OMA and how to prepare volunteers
  2. Lesson 2: Principles of failure-free art activities designed for people living with dementia
  3. Lesson 3: Additional Resources

Closed Captions/Subtitles: If you want to read subtitles while watching the video clips, please click on “Watch on YouTube” on the bottom of the videos and then click on “CC” while watching it on YouTube.

Quizzes: Periodically there will be quizzes to check your understanding. You need 80% correct before you can continue to the next topic. You can retake the quizzes multiple times.

Mark complete: At the end of each lesson, please click on “Mark Complete” on the bottom right of the page before advancing to the next lesson. This will allow the system to record your progress in the course.

Workshop: After completing these online lessons, you will have the opportunity you will need to attend an in-person workshop to do art-making.

For questions or concerns with the online lessons, please contact Meghan Young at youngma3@MiamiOH.edu or Tel. 513-529-1701

Thank you to the Arthur N. Rupe Foundation for funding to support this course and the in-person workshop to be held on September 30, 2024 in Montgomery, Alabama.
