Mark Hierholzer (Virginia, USA) is the Board President & Founder of Art for the Journey. He is an impressionist oil painter, painting figures, portraiture, still life and landscapes, with a special interest in fishing boats and water scenes. In 2014 Mark joined with Cindy Paullin and Jamie Wigginton to found Art for The Journey, a nonprofit with a mission to “overcome barriers and transform lives through creating art”, with a special focus on people who do not normally have access to such experiences. Mark is a Certified Facilitator for OMA, a best practice program specially developed by the Scripps Gerontology Center and Miami University of Ohio for people suffering with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Mark was voted 2017’s Best Art Instructor for Adults by Richmond Magazine.
