Dianne F Simons, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA (Virginia, USA) Art has been a part of Dianne’s life since childhood. She majored in art at Virginia Tech. After a first career as an artist/instructional designer at medical schools in Virginia and Florida she returned to school herself to study occupational therapy (OT) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). After working with clients in mental health settings as an OT for 11 years she joined the VCU OT faculty. She earned a PhD in instructional technology from the University of Virginia and continues to paint using pastels. After 25 years as an OT educator Dianne retired in 2020. Dianne has supported OT doctoral students completing capstone projects with Art for the Journey and is now helping them train new OMA facilitators.
